Peru Nursing Mission Trip

From January 9-21, 2019,  thirteen nursing students and two faculty will work with CerviCusco, a non-profit medical center that serves residents of Cusco with cervical cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

The FHU group will reside at the CerviCusco facility and use the skills that they have learned in their coursework to assist at the clinic and a remote mobile clinic.

The students will also visit nearby orphanages, nursing homes, and a children’s hospital. The students will receive three credit hours through the program, potentially with additional pediatric clinical hours by assisting at the children's hospital.

The vivid contrasts in healthcare delivery in Peru versus the United States will teach important principles of diversity and cultural competency. We believe the experience will be impactful, powerful, transformative, and humbling, and we would like to ask for your financial assistance to help make the trip possible.

The total cost of this trip is around $40,000. Our team is asking FHU alumni and friends to help cover $10,000 of these expenses and the remaining amount will be paid for by the students. 

Every gift is important and necessary. Here is a list of different expenses and how your gift could be used to impact this program:

• $25/person - Shuttle to Nashville airport

• $50/person - Travel Insurance

• $100/person: Night at Hotel in Lima, Peru

• $200/person - Flights between Lima and Cusco

• $750/person - Flights between Nashville, TN and Lima, Peru

• $1,000/person - CerviCusco Lodging - covers lodging in Cusco for 10 nights, airport pick up and drop off in Cusco, a couple of meals, water jugs, laundry services, and a cleaning fee.
